Merlin high resolution ink jet printer
The high resolution print heads are available in print heights of 17mm, 35mm and 70mm, and print at up to 300 d.p.i., (similar to "normal" print quality on an office desktop printer). All models print high quality text, graphics and industry standard bar codes, directly onto the wooden substrate.
Variable information capabilities include real time codes, counting, or use of external data. External data examples include printing the dimensions of randomly-presented timber pieces, or a quality logo sourced from a stress grading system. Even for non-variable batch coding requirements, the message can be changed in an instant on changeover to the next batch.
Systems operate in standalone mode, so there is no requirement for an additional PC or compressed air. A PC may be required for message creation, but if the printer is connected to the factory network, any PC meeting the minimum spec and running the message creation software can be used.
There are two options for message creation software. Apprentice allows users to create messages, set up variable data fields, and send messages to the printer. In addition, Connect software allows users to define network structure and administer security options, centrally control message editing and downloads to any number of networked printers, set up external data transfer parameters, and log production data, exporting to a .CSV file if required.
Weber Fas Tagger II Tagger IIŽ
The Weber Fas Tagger II Tagger IIŽ is an automatic tagging tool that dispenses Poly Tags and staples them securely in place - all in one step.
The Fas Tagger II uses compressed air to apply tags at a rate of over 100 per minute. The operator places the tool against the piece of timber and pulls the trigger. The Fas Tagger II automatically staples the tag to the timber, cuts it, and feeds the next tag into position.
Because it accepts a range of poly tag sizes, the Fas Tagger II is versatile enough to handle a full range of bar code and product identification needs. Two different lengths and widths are available, and the unit is designed to let you change the tag size in less than 10 seconds.
The Fas Tagger II is easy to use - at 2.5 Kgs, it is light enough to hold in one hand, yet durable enough to withstand the working environments of timber processors.
Accessories included are a pair of safety glasses, 20,000 staples, lubrication oil, and two sizes of tag guide.

DM3 heavy duty contact coder
The DM3 is a small, robust and good value printing machine. A rubber stencil is mounted on a wheel, and runs in contact with the wood surface. The machine is friction-driven, but can also be equipped with a direct drive. The machine is operated by a pneumatic cylinder, controlled by a magnetic valve.
This is a heavy-duty version of the standard packaging industry box-coder, but able to run at speeds up to 200m/minute. The rubber stencils are also solidly made, and these are capable of contact with fast-moving timber pieces.
Size ranges are 500-900mm circumference (repeat distance of print) with a text height of up to 180mm.
The DM4 is a similar machine, but with a narrow wheel running on the edge of the profile.
The ink is supplied to the roller by means of an easy-to-change, pre-saturated ink roll, running in contact with the rubber stencil.
Handjet ink jet printer
The Handjet ink jet printer is a mobile, wireless, hand held ink jet printer for printing onto wood and other materials. It combines all the advantages of an ink jet printer with true portability and ease of use.
Based on the established valve-jet technology, the Handjet offers users the flexibility to mark product in situ, with a better quality than stencilling or contact coding.
The unit is lightweight and easy to use. The operator presses a trigger and rolls the encoder wheel on the front of the unit along the wood to print out the selected message.
The battery enables the unit to operate for up to 50 hours non-stop, and the battery takes less than 2.5 hours to recharge.
Messages are created on a PC using the supplied Windows-based software, and transmitted in seconds via a RF link attached to the USB port on the computer. Up to 1500 characters can be stored on the Handjet's memory, including up to 10 messages with several lines in each message block.
The ink cartridge lasts for up to 100,000 characters in the 7x5 dot font, or up to 16,000 in the 16x7 dot font.
The unit comes as a case set including the printer, battery charger, initial ink supply, software and RF transmitter.
