End Stamp
The end grain of timber is especially suitable for applying a quality mark. Positioned on a transverse conveyor at a point where the timber is fair-ended, the printer applies sharp logos and text to identify and improve the appearance of the material. Typical installations include sorting lines or the infeed and outfeed to planing or resaw lines.
The pieces don't have to be individually separated, although this is necessary if a distinct stamp is required. It is also possible to repeat print a design along the edge of each layer in a pack.
The equipment supplied includes everything needed to have a fully functioning system, including installation metalwork, encoder module and ink supply. We pride ourselves on designing robust, effective installations, which provide consistently sharp detail and will last for years in the sawmill environment.
For end stamping there are some useful automatic options. The message to be printed can be selected according to the cross-sectional size of the timber. On sorting lines randomly-sized pieces can be accommodated as the printer will accept an input from the line control system to select a new message for printing, at speeds of up to 200 pieces per minute.
Alternatively, the printer can use external data to print the length of each piece after it passes a measurement system.
Timbermark provides a full integration service, including working with line control engineers or OEMs to provide a reliable data solution.
